Nestled in the beautiful Normandy countryside, our gite is ideally placed for discovering the region and all it has to offer.
In the heart of the WW2 Normandy landings region, we have an abundance of museums, monuments, sites of interest and of course, the cemeteries and beaches to visit, all within 15-30 minutes from Houesville. (Featured in Spielberg’s Band of Brothers epic)
If WW2 is not among your interests, The Cotentin Peninsula has some of the best beaches in France, with miles and miles of golden sand. Here you can harvest your own mussels, watch the pony trotting or simply soak up the sun for the day. Perhaps you would like to visit our local Nature Reserve, a bird watchers heaven. Restaurants, Epiceries and markets abound, La Manche is a wonderful area for food lovers.

Most people use Brittany Ferries Portsmouth/Caen Ouistreham sailings all year or high speed ferry Portsmouth/ Cherbourg usually available May – September. * Guests booking our gite will be able to obtain a 10% discount on their sailing if travelling with Brittany Ferries (subject to availability). Please email or phone for detailed road route if required.
By Rail
Carentan (10 mins) has a main line railway station and has trains leaving and arriving on a regular basis throughout the day. Carentan to Paris Gare-St-Lazare – approx 3 hours direct or via Caen. Carentan – Caen -40 mins. & Carentan – Cherbourg – 30 mins.

A long road trip, but relatively easy. Take the A16 on leaving the tunnel at Calais, A28 and A29 to Caen and then N13 to Carentan. Please remember the tolls (approx. €26) and fuel stations are relatively few, so be sure to stop when you see one!
